CarolinaKinder
wishes you a wonderful fall season.
We would like to invite you to our 2nd annual St. Martin's celebration.

This
is a particularly nice season for engaging in some crafts with you kids.
We have some tips for you.
First
of all, the St. Martin's procession and celebration will take place on
Thursday, the 11th of November at 6pm.
It will be in the Sunset Creek neighborhood in
Chapel Hill.
We will meet and start our procession in the yard of 103 Michael's Way.
There is a parking facility right at the entrance of the subdivision.
Don't worry- we'll put up a big sign to guide you. Please, don't drive
into the subdivision as it will hinder the procession and endanger the
children.
Please,
bring along lanterns and lantern sticks!
Should you need some, here's great website for you:

The
other thing we'd like to ask you to bring is
hot chocolate for the children to
drink.
CarolinaKinder
will supply the mulled wine and the 'Weckmänner" (sweet little
dough boys).
We
have the horse, the saint and the music, now
we need some bakers!
If
you have time to help us bake some of these sweet little treats, please,
send me an e-mail jdmac2@nc.rr.com. We have the recipe.
We also need volunteers to help pour hot chocolate,
mulled wine and hand out the dough boys. Please, contact me if you can
help.
CarolinaKinder is a volunteer organization for all of us. it's so much
easier if lots of hands help!

Now the fun really starts:
You can find some St. Martin explanations and lantern making tips in english:
http://www.billanookps.vic.edu.au/German/Festival/Activities7lanternmaking.html
The CarolinaKinder website from last year can give a lot of info. It will
be in the same place, we will just start a bit later:
http://carolinakinder.org/stmartin.htm
You can even read up about our adventure from last year in the paper:
http://www.chapelhillnews.com/snapshots/v-printer/story/948573p-6774825c.html
Here
are some sites with lantern-making tips:
http://www.kidsweb.de/basteln/laterne.htm
http://www.kinderbasteleien.de/ordner/laternen/bastelnlaternen.html
(some of these are really unusual)
How about getting together in play groups or with friends for some crafts?
The
main songs and notes are on this website,it's probably worth printing
them out and bringing them along:
http://www.martin-von-tours.de/lieder/index.html
If you know more songs, let me know. I'd need them with notes, though,
to pass on to our musician!
Phew,
that's all for now.
Enjoy the crafts and I'll see you on the 11th of November.
All
the best,
Jackie
